The Livestock Markets were mixed today, with the Fats and Feeders getting crushed. October'25 Live Cattle were 5.62 ½ lower today and settled at 230.17 ½. Today's high was 235.75 and the 1-month and contract high are 242.07 ½. Today's low was 229.92 ½ and the 1-month low is 224.02 ½. Since 8/8 October'25 Live Cattle are 4.20 higher or almost 2%. The Feeders were locked limit down today. The October'25 Feeder Cattle were 9.25 lower today and settled at 349.92 ½. Today's high was 359.10 and the 1-month and contract high are 369.37 ½. Today's low was 349.92 ½ and the 1-month low is 334.77 ½. Since 8/8 October'25 Feeder Cattle are 10.70 higher or more than 3%. The Hogs traded higher again today. October'25 Hogs were 97 ½ cents higher today and settled at 96.12 ½. Today's high was 96.40 and the 1-month high is 96.97 ½. Today's low was 95.37 ½ and the 1-month low is 88.52 ½. Since 8/8 October'25 Lean Hogs are 5.45 higher or 6%. Well, is this the start of the race to the bottom, or will the Feeders gain some traction at some point tomorrow? We will know soon enough, but with the Feeders locked limit down today, I would assume there will be more pressure put on the Cattle Markets tomorrow morning. If the Feeders open five or six dollars lower, then they might have a chance of getting a foothold and catching a brief bid, but if the Cattle Markets open locked limit down tomorrow morning, then I would think the gig is up, as it will draw unwanted attention from traders outside these markets. When there is blood in the water, the Widget Traders usually show up and push it lower. If you are stuck in the Futures Markets tomorrow, you can always trade in the Option Markets, as there are no limits in the Options. If you need help, let me know. The open interest in the Fats yesterday decreased by more than 5,500 contracts, and the Feeders open interest decreased by 1,300 or more. I think that could be a reason the Cattle Markets broke today. Seeing the open interest in the Live Cattle drop that much in a day, could have spooked traders with the thought of the Funds starting to liquidate their very long position of more than 110,000 contracts. Other have said we broke today because President Trump, yesterday, alluded to doing something soon to get the price of beef lower, but there were no specifics. The Goldman roll has begun, but that should not trigger a limit move. One thing is clear, the Feeders are technically a sell, as they are several dollars through the 7-, 14-, and 21-Day moving averages. The charts point to a further decline to around the 335 area in the November'25 Feeders. I still like the 330.88 ½ level, that is a 10% break off the contract high in the November'25 Feeders of 367.65, for starters. The volatility spiked today and the November'25 Feeder Option prices took off as well. Today, the November'25 Feeder 340 Puts settled at 11.10. That is up 5.05 for the day or 45%. There are plenty of ways to continue to play these markets in the Options, and I would be more than happy to show you how. It is time for you to call me, and I look forward to hearing from you. Once again, if you buy Livestock, Hedge your Livestock. Have a great night. There are a few Trades I sent out on Thursday 9/4 in the Feeders and on 9/5 in the Fats below, take a look. . . WATCH FOR TRADE DEAL NEWS . . The Grain Markets were mixed today, with all the Grains trading a little lower. The Beans gave a couple cents back today. November'25 Soybeans were 2 ½ cents lower today and settled at 1031 ¼. Today's high was 1036 and the 1-month high is 1062 ¾. Today's low was 1029 ¼, and the 1-month low is 984 ½. Since 8/8 November'25 Soybeans are 43 ¾ cents higher or more than 4%. The Corn Market did not do much today. December'25 Corn was 2 cents lower today and settled at 419 ¾. Today's high was 422 ½ and the 1-month high is 424 ¾. Today's low was 419 and the 1-month and contract low are 392. Since 8/8 December'25 Corn is 14 ¼ cents higher or 3 ½%. The Wheat Market gave back a few cents as well. December'25 Wheat was 3 ½ cents lower today and settled at 520 ¼. Today's high was 525 and the 1-month high is 542 ¾. Today's low was 519 ¼ and the 1-month and contract low is 514 ½. Since 8/8 December'25 Wheat is 14 ¾ cents lower or almost 3%. The Grains did not do much today, as all the attention was on the Cattle Markets, and waiting for the WASDE Report on Friday. I still feel we can see the Grains rally into and through the Report on Friday. I expect some short covering to begin tomorrow, and I think we can see a Bullish Report for the Corn Market. The USDA's 188.8 BPA is huge, and there could be several problems with the Corn Crop. I have heard problems for the Corn ranging from disease, too dry, and too cold. We will see soon enough, and demand remains strong anyway. There is still a chance for a Trade Deal price rally as well, but right now the focus should be on the Bushel Per Acre forecast moving forward. The Beans would benefit the most from any trade deals getting completed and the Wheat will rally if and when it wants to, but I like the upside in Wheat now. The rest of the week could turn out to be much busier than it was today. If you have been waiting to open an account, this is the time to do it. I can have your account open and ready to go before the WASDE Report on Friday. If you have any questions for me, give me a call. Have a great night. . .
